It’s that time of the year again- Super Bowl ad time! I don’t know about you, but unless the Steelers are playing, I could care less about the actual game. I, like so many other consumers, like to watch the Super Bowl for the half time performance and of course, for the advertisements. My favorite advertisements are normally the ones with the celebrities in it, because normally they are endorsing a major brand and they always seem to be hit. So let’s do a little bit of a rundown of celebrity Super Bowl advertisements, and some celebs you should expect to see come game time this Sunday.

Celebrity Superbowl Ads

First let’s just talk some facts about celebs in advertisements.  Around 36% of brands choose to use a celebrity to endorse their brand or product for their Super Bowl ad.  This year that number is projected to be even higher! Why do brands use celebs though- is their presence actually that important to the success of the commercial? Well that’s simple. As I am sure you know, Super Bowl advertisements are very expensive and are seen as sort of an investment.  Brands wouldn’t use celebs if their presence wasn’t impactful to their brand.  Super Bowl advertisements with celebrities have around a 75% success rate. This doesn’t mean that Lebron James should be the celeb endorsing Samsonite Luggage. The celeb should make sense for the brand or product that they are endorsing. If the two don’t correlate than that can possibly impact the success rate of the advertisement.

Celebrities to Look Out For This Year

Here are some major celebrities taking part in Super Bowl LV commercials this year:

Athletes: Serena Williams, Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Brooks Koepka, Peyton Manning

These are just a few athletes who will be showcased in a Michelob advertisement.

Musicians: Lenny Kravitz, Meek Mill

Lenny Kravitz will be shown in the Stella Artois ad. Rapper Meek Mill will be representing Bacardi this year.

Actors: Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Will Ferrell, John Cena

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis will make an appearance in the Cheeto’s commercial this year, putting a twist on Shaggy’s song, “It wasn’t me”.  I have to say I am most looking forward to this commercial.  They will be using the song to demonstrate how to convince someone else that you didn’t steal their Cheetos. I can only assume this commercial will feature cheesy orange fingers and traces of the cheddar powder “on the counter” and “on the sofa”.

Will Ferrell will also be appearing  in comedic fashion (of course) in a commercial for GM’s battery system.

The plot of the M&M’s commercial is still unknown, but we do know that Levy from Schitt’s Creek will have a cameo.

Mtn Dew’s advertisement will feature John Cena who will challenge Super Bowl watchers to count the number of Mtn Dew Major Melon bottles that appear in the commercial for a chance to win $1 million.
